Pambansang Samahan ng mga Maliliit na Magsasaka para sa Likas-Kayang Pananakahan (SAKAHAN)
PRRM has been organizing small farmers to promote land justice, sustainable agricuflture and rural reconstruction. In April 2001, it facilitated the organization of SAKAHAN to strengthen the voice of small farmers in policies and programs that affect their welfare. SAKAHAN is a national federation composed of 13 provincial federations, with a membership of about 4,000 sustainable agriculture practitioners. It has helped in campaigns that led to the enactment of laws on land reform and organic agriculture, among others. It educates and trains farmers, local communities and LGUs on the need to shift from conventional to sustainable agriculture. |
