Zero Basura Olympics MOA Signing

PRRM President Isagani R. Serrano signs as a witness-signatory and Vice President of Earth Day Network Philippines (EDNP) at the Zero Basura Olympics MOA signing last August 8 at the Commission on Higher Education (CHED) Assembly Hall in Diliman, QC.

The main signatories were Commission on Higher Education (CHED) Chair Patricia Licuanan and EDNP President Bert Guevara.

Originally an idea of the late Odette Alcantara, a founding leader of EDNP, Zero Basura Olympics (ZBO) was launched in 2008 as a competition to speed up the implementation of R.A. 9003, the Ecological Solid Waste Management Act of 2001.

The project is a public awareness raising campaign to fast-track the compliance of LGUs to the closure of all open dumpsites which was taking too long, and already way past deadline. Also in photo is Atty. Julito D. Vitriolo, CHED commissioner who co-witnessed the MOA signing.
