Farewell, Luis

Mr. Luis Garcia, PRRM Treasurer –Emeritus

MR. LUIS GARCIA
PRRM Treasurer-Emeritus
(August 30, 1927 – August 9, 2014)

Mr. Luis Garcia, PRRM Treasurer –Emeritus, passed away on August 9, 2014.
Luis served the Movement the longest in his capacity as Trustee from 1959-2006.

He was PRRM’s trustworthy “keeper of assets”.

Long before corporate social responsibility became byword in mainstream development discourse, he already had personified corporate giving.

It was Luis as president of Wrigley’s Philippines who caused the donation of a precious piece of real property to PRRM which gave birth to our endowment fund and our own building. These tangible resources attest to his enduring contribution to our striving for financial sustainability which very few NGOs have attained to date.

Beyond this concrete legacy, Luis will be long remembered for having unselfishly shared his wisdom, insights and wealth of experience with past and future generations of PRRM leaders and workers.

Wake details: Wake starts at 3pm on August 18 in the capillas of Sanctuario de San Antonio Forbes. Funeral mass at 2pm on Aug 19 in the same capillas. The classmates of Gemma Garcia (daughter) are sponsoring a mass on Aug 13, 5pm in the Assumption Chapel in San Lorenzo, Makati.
