The Lagawe Highlands Rural Bank or Banco Lagawe inaugurated its new main office last June 20. It transferred from its small office space in the JDT Building in Lagawe, to the new two-storey office at the Wigan Building, also in Lagawe, Ifugao’s town capital. It also has branches in Solano and Bambang in Nueva Vizcaya, and in Santiago City, Isabela.

“This new building is indeed a testament to how far we have gone.  For this we are truly grateful to you, our beloved and valued clients and partners.  Without doubt, the bank has grown and will continue to grow because of your continued patronage and support,” Sen. Tañada added.

Launched in 1999, the bank is a culmination of PRRM’s savings and credit component of the RDDP (Rural Development and Democratization Program). The bank is PRRM’s contribution to the universal issue of financing for development.

Banco Lagawe has contributed to the lives of the people of Ifugao, and the nearby provinces. “Businesses are growing and expanding; farms are getting more productive; houses are being built and improved; more children are graduating from college; OFWs are being employed and are sending remittance to their families back home; assets like agricultural and residential lots, motor vehicles, trucks, farm implements are being acquired.“

Sen. Tañada shared the goal of the bank: “Pangarap ng Banco Lagawe na maging isa sa mga nangungunang rural bank sa Cordillerra region sa susunod na limang taon, isa sa mga pinakamaunlad, isa sa mga kinikilala.”
