January 11, 1951 – April 24, 2009
He may have lost his battle, but he fought till he breathed his last.
That may be said of Ka Orly Maddela who for the past two years had struggled to win over his health problems. While his condition confined him to a hospital bed, he managed to maintain a bright disposition.
Ka Orly joined PRRM in August of 2004 as Asset Development Specialist. In June 2007, he was designated as Head of the General Services Unit where he took the lead in the inventory and titling of PRRM properties and the maintenance and improvement of the PRRM building.
A PRRM Night was held for Ka Orly last April 27 at the Funeraria Paz where a few of our colleagues shared some of their fondest memories of him. One that was especially remembered was his use of the expression Arya boy! (Arya is a word similar to sugod or “attack”). The expression, that made everyone who heard it laugh, became synonymous with Ka Orly.
His passing left a void because he was a colleague, a friend and a father that we had lost. And for all that he had been to us, we are grateful. We shall always remember and cherish the memory of the man whose life had graced ours.
Salamat po, Ka Orly. To you, we all cheer one final, Arya boy!
