Prof. Randolf A. David

A well-respected media figure in the Philippines, Prof. Randolph ‘Randy’ David is a faculty at the University of the Philippines (UP) in Quezon City where he teaches graduate courses in social theory and political economy. He is a founding director of the Third World Studies Center and maintains a second career in media writing a column for the Philippine Daily Inquirer, the Philippines’ leading daily. Randy has also hosted one of the longest-running public affairs talk show on Philippine television, Public Forum (renamed Public Life), and co-anchored another television talk show, Off the Record, with Atty. Katrina Legarda. He was also former editor of the journal Kasarinlan.

Prof. David was trained in sociology at UP and the University of Manchester in England. A former chair of BISIG, he serves on the board of various non-government organizations.

Among his published works are Public Lives: Essays on Selfhood and Social Solidarity.
