PRRM participates in 350.org’s Moving Planet with “Padyak Novo Ecijano para sa Kalikasan”

Padyak Novo Ecijano Para sa Kalikasan

Together with Nueva Ecija’s Cabiao SK Federation, Saturday Cycling Club, San Leonardo Riders Club, Sta. Rita Bikers Club and Cabiao Bikers Club, PRRM organized “Padyak Novo Ecijano Para sa Kalikasan” last September 24, in participation for 350.org’s bi-annual global climate change campaign. The theme for this year is “Moving Planet: A day to move beyond fossil fuels”.

Despite the heavy rains, bikers from Cabiao and San Leonardo were still eager and decided to push through with the event. “Rain or Shine, ituloy natin dahil maganda at napapanahon ang kampanyang ito,” one of the bikers firmly insisted. After savoring arroz caldo for breakfast, the bike parade kicked off at eight o’clock in the morning from PRRM Nieves Center in San Leonardo, Nueva Ecija, and passed through the national highways of Gapan City nd the municipalities of San Isidro, Cabiao and Arayat in Pampanga, reaching Mount Arayat National Park at around 10 am. A 10-minute break from the rains allowed the group to take pictures, followed by a delightful snack served by the Sangguniang Kabataan Federation of Cabiao. PRRM prepared some campaign materials and a short but animated discussion on the significance of doing the campaign in relation to climate change and environmental awareness was initiated by the organizers.

The bikers pedaled their way back to the PRRM Nieves Center and the event ended at around lunchtime, where a salo-salo of fried tilapia, pakbet, saging and organic tea awaited them. The participating bikers were very happy despite the slight chill from their wet jerseys due to the rainy cycling event. They even asked about the next 350.org campaign and promised to enjoin more bikers in the campaign to fight climate crisis.
